What is OpenHere?

OpenHere is a place to log what you want to see open in your neighborhood, and what you have enough of already. Each zip code has its own page. People add things, other people upvote them. That's the whole thing.

No accounts. No ads. No tracking. One vote per item per zip.

How it works

There are two sides:

Want is for things you wish your area had. Could be a specific brand (Trader Joe's, Crumbl Cookies) or a general category (ramen, bookstore, hardware store).

Pass is for categories you think your area has too many of. Nail salons, coffee chains, whatever. Categories only. You can't single out an existing business.

Why we made it

You and your neighbors already talk about wanting a good Thai place. But the people who could open one have no way to know that.

How to help

Share your town's page with friends. Cut and paste it into text messages or DMs.

Post it in your local Facebook group. Neighborhood groups, parents groups, foodie groups, whatever you're in. A “what do you wish would open here?” post always gets a lot of replies, but nothing ever comes of it. Now there's at least an easy-to-view record of your town's wants.

Send the page to a business you want. Contact brands via their social media to let them know they are popular in your town. Numbers from real neighbors carry weight that a generic “please come here” post doesn't.
